Ivory Coast parliament votes to hold referendum on new constitution
The Ivory Coast parliament voted overwhelmingly in favor of holding a
referendum
on new constitution that will remove a controversial nationality clause
that
contributed to years of unrest and
civil war.
The 233 votes in favor and six against approved in
national assembly
to hold referendum.
The referendum is now expected to be held
in September or October
later this year.
